UPDATE: 11:21 a.m. — The situation is under control. Students are heading back inside. The fire was unfounded. Again, we stress this is the last day of school.
BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Morikami Park Elementary School on Jog Road is being evacuated as of 10:50 a.m. due to a report of a fire in the office.
Sources tell BocaNewsNow.com that first arriving firefighters did not smell — or see — the smoke that apparently led to the evacuation and initial calls to 911. Alarms are heard ringing throughout the building.
All evacuations are taken seriously. Previous school violence issues have been initiated by alarms forcing people outside, only to be met by bad actors. There is no indication, however, that anything like that is happening at Morikami.
We note that today is the last day of school in the Palm Beach County School District. Check back for updates.
