Bicycle Crash At Fort Lauderdale Airport Causes Morning Traffic, Travel Issues

BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Someone riding a bicycle near Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport before dawn this morning was struck by a motorist. The crash closed an airport feeder road and created traffic issues throughout part of the morning.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office issued this advisory around 10:45 a.m. Wednesday:

“Shortly after 4 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27, Broward Regional Communications received a call regarding a traffic crash with injuries involving a vehicle and a bicyclist in the 3800 block of West Perimeter Road near the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies from the Airport District responded. On scene, deputies found an injured adult cyclist. Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue transported the individual to a nearby hospital for treatment. The driver involved in the crash remained on scene. BSO’s Traffic Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene and are investigating the circumstances of the crash. For a period of time, the roadway in that area was shut down. The roadway has since reopened.”
