UPDATE: 8:09 p.m. — Two people are confirmed dead. This is the update from PBSO: “A family was fishing at the dead end of Lox Road, unincorporated Boca Raton, when for unknown reasons two adult males entered the water, went into distress, fell underwater and did not resurface.  A third male entered the water to try to assist the two males. He quickly realized he was unable to help and returned to shore to call 911.  BSO responded to the scene and determined the area belonged to PBSO.

PBSO responded and immediately called PBSO Marine and FWC to begin a recovery mission.  Shortly before 6:00 pm, marine unit deputies and FWC officers recovered both males deceased.”

UPDATE: 5:45 p.m. — We are still awaiting an official update from Broward County officials. We expect to know more Sunday evening.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A car sunk in a canal off Loxahatchee Road Sunday afternoon around 1:30 p.m. At least one person is dead.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue and Broward County Fire Rescue workers are attempting to recover the body of at least one victim as of 2 p.m. Emergency rescue sources tell BocaNewsNow.com that there may be additional deaths in the vehicle.

The location of the crash is in the area of 15969 Loxahatchee Road which is technically south of Palmetto Park Road and the community of Boca Winds. Roads in the area are unpaved, however, making access difficult. Even though it’s just south of West Boca, the address is basically Parkland. The canal runs on the border between Palm Beach County and Broward County.

This is a developing story…
