Difficult Driving In West Boca Raton, West Delray Beach Sunday Morning. Two Major Incidents…
BY: STAFF REPORT | BocaNewsNow.com
UPDATE 5:30 p.m. — PBSO tells BocaNewsNow.com that Oscar Benavidas, 42, was killed in the wreck. He was traveling southbound on 441 — on a Yahama MT09 motorcycle — when another vehicle turned left at Winners Circle. Benavidas’ motorcycle hit the front of the turning car. He was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators report that witnesses say that speed may have been a factor. Benavidas’ home address is listed as Saginaw Avenue in West Palm Beach.
UPDATE 2:19 p.m. — The scene is starting to clear. Expect traffic slowdowns throughout the afternoon, but we expect 441 to be passable again, in both directions, by 3 p.m.
UPDATE 1:30 p.m. — BocaNewsNow.com has confirmed that a motorcyclist is dead and was found on 441 in the seconds after a crash involving a car carrying at least five people. The crash is just south of Saturnia Isles and north of Seven Bridges which is Cabernet Drive. Southbound traffic from Atlantic Avenue is being turned around at Saturnia Isles. Northbound traffic from Clint Moore Road is being turned around between The Oaks and Seven Bridges. The crash location is in the area of a “speed warning” sign erected by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office on Friday. This continues to be a developing story. Check back for updates.
UPDATE: 12:45 p.m. BocaNewsNow.com has learned that a motorcyclist and a car apparently collided. The motorcyclist is dead.
DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — We are awaiting official details but multiple readers tell BocaNewsNow.com as of noon Sunday that U.S. 441 is largely closed between Clint Moore Road and Atlantic Avenue.
Witness tell us that there is a critical crash slightly north of Cabernet Drive (which is Seven Bridges) and south of Saturnia Isles.
Motorists heading southbound on 441 are apparently able to get as far as Saturnia Isles but are then being turned around to go back northbound. We are receiving conflicting information concerning northbound traffic, but it sounds like traffic is northbound traffic is being flipped north of “The Oaks” but south of Cabernet Drive/Seven Bridges. We are awaiting official details from PBSO. For now, find alternate routes that avoid this area.
Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a separate fatal crash at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and the Southbound Exit Ramp to the Florida Turnpike.
