BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Palm Beach County School District officials, as well as administrators at local private schools, are all closely monitoring what is now Tropical Depression 9 but may become a hurricane early next week.

Several officials from both public and private schools tell BocaNewsNow.com that while no closure decision is expected over the weekend, they want all families to be prepared for a major announcement on Monday should Tropical Depression 9 truly become a threat. Schools across the region are closed Monday due to the Jewish New Year of Rosh Hashana — that means many families may be paying attention to incoming phone calls, emails, or other alerts.

“We want parents to know that that even though school is closed on Monday, we will be watching the storm and making a decision about whether or not school will be open on Tuesday and or Wednesday,” said a high level administrator.

Area private schools are also alerting parents to be prepared for an “open or close” announcement on Monday.
