BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A 26-year-old Fort Myers man was killed early this morning after he was struck by a pickup truck while walking on I-75. There is no pedestrian walkway on the Interstate.

According to FHP, the man was walking eastbound on I-75 just west of US 27 when he was struck by a 2005 Chevy Tahoe driven by a 65-year-old man from Clearwater. “The pedestrian tumbled/rolled in a southeastern direction on the outside lane, later coming to rest on the right shoulder.”

The Tahoe driver remained on the scene. There is no indication of impairment. He is cooperating with authorities.

FHP says both eastbound lanes are blocked on I-75 at US 27 but traffic is slowly moving through the left shoulder.
