BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The Palm Beach County School Board is set to approve a new form that requires teachers to obtain permission before using any educational material that falls into one of five categories. The categories are considered a potential violation of “rules” put in place by the Florida Department of Education following pressure on the Department from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

The form, which we are publishing above and below, requires teachers to report any material that “instructs on sexual orientation or gender identity and is accessible to students in grades K-3,” and/or “explicitly instructs on sexual orientation on gender identify, is for students beyond Grade 3, but is identified for a potential concern regarding age or developmental appropriateness.”

“The resources from the 1619 Project and/or quotes or references the 1619 Project.” The 1619 Project, as described by Education Week, “aims to reframe U.S. History by putting the legacy of slavery and the contributions of Black Americans at its center.”

“The resource proposes that racism is currently embedded in American society and its legal systems in order to uphold the supremacy of white persons.”

“The resource denies or minimizes the Holocaust.”

The Palm Beach County School District is also prepared to set new rules and requirements before material is permitted in a school library. Read the complete, proposed rule below.

These items are expected to be adopted during the Palm Beach County School Board’s October 12th meeting.
