BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Shopping may not be a pleasure at the Publix at Powerline and Palmetto Park Road in Boca Raton where Lawrence Purdy told police he works as a butcher’s apprentice. Purdy, apparently off-duty from his carving duties, allegedly threatened to kill someone in the area of 1400 N. Ocean Blvd. in Boca Raton. He threatened the victim with a knife.
Boca Raton Police responded to the area of 1400 N. Ocean Blvd. around 7:35 p.m. on Monday. There they found two victims who claimed that Purdy called him names, then pulled out a knife and threatened to kill him.
Police documented the situation this way in the official report: “Upon arrival contact was made with Victim (1) who advised that while he was at the above listed location he had gotten into a verbal altercation with defendant. The victim continued to advise that the defendant began calling him names and then observed the defendant pull out a knife from his waistband and unsheathed it stating, “I’m going to murder you”. The victim advised he observed the knife to have a dark grey handle and had an approximately 3-inch silver blade.
I then made contact with Victim (2) who advised he observed Victim (1) being threatened with a knife. Victim (2) then told the defendant to leave so there would be no further altercation. Victim (2) advised that the defendant then pointed the knife at him with a black handle and 3-inch blade stating, “you want me to use this on you?”
Purdy, 29, of the 18000 block of Horizon Avenue in Boca Raton, was arrested and charged with “aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without the intent to kill.” He was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail where he was later released to a family member.
His status with Publix was not immediately clear. Read the police report, below.PURDY
