BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A major crash has closed the southbound lanes of the Florida Turnpike, just south of Glades Road.
The crash, involving multiple cars, was first reported just before 6 a.m. The Turnpike was closed as rescuers arrived on the scene. An hour later, at 7 a.m., the roadway still appears to be closed based on Florida Department of Transportation traffic cameras.
The view from several cameras in and around Glades Road indicates a multi-mile backup start south of Glades and continuing well north of Glades Road in the southbound lanes. The northbound lanes of the Florida Turnpike appear to be unaffected.
BocaNewsNow.com has learned multiple victims have been transported to area hospitals. None appear to be suffering life-threatening injuries. Rescue crews appear to be working on the right shoulder of the southbound lanes. You may want to avoid the southbound turnpike this morning for the next hour or so.
