UPDATE: 5 p.m. — The FLL situation is now under control. Spokeswoman Arlene Satchell just issued this statement: “All impacted areas resumed normal operations earlier this afternoon after an AM technology issue affected some airline check-in/gate counters and FLL flight information display screens. Thanks for your patience and understanding on this busy holiday weekend.”

UPDATE: 4:07 p.m. — No update from FLL officials but FlightAware.com is now reporting nearly 200 delays today at FLL.

BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — If you are flying out of Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International airport today, check with your airline before heading to the airport. FLL officials just announced that an “information technology” problem is being worked by the airport’s tech team.

“FLL experienced an IT outage this morning,” said airport officials. “Our team is working diligently to ensure that all systems are back up soon. We thank you for your patience while we work to resolve this issue.”

The impact of the IT outage was not immediately clear. Most flights appear to be on time, according to the airport’s arrival and departure flight board — but we note that system may actually be affected. Other potential issues due to the problem: a traveler’s ability to check-in at the airport, print boarding passes, check bags, and utilize other functions or services at the airport that require FLL’s computer systems.

As of 11:40 a.m., FlightAware.com reports 1,333 delays within, into, or out of the United States with 90 delays involving Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International.
