DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — That sound you heard near Lyons Road and the entrance to Seven Bridges Christmas Eve wasn’t a man on a sleigh jingling with reindeer, but a man allegedly smashing his Porsche SUV into a tree next to the community’s gatehouse.

Vincent Maida, 82, is now charged with driving under the influence. The incident occurred around 11:30 Saturday night as Maida in a 2021 White Porsche SUV — according to both police and sources familiar with the incident — fell asleep behind the wheel. A woman in her 70s, also in the vehicle, complained of chest pain and foot pain. She was transported to West Boca Medical Center.

While the official charge filed by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is “Driving Under The Influence,” we note that the official citation reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com indicates that Mr. Maida’s breath alcohol sample was .026 — significantly UNDER the legal limit of .08. Could that be a Christmas gift just waiting for a criminal defense attorney to unwrap? Stay tuned. Mr. Maida was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail at 2:24 a.m. Christmas Day. He remained locked up as of 8 a.m.

Mr. Maida lives in the 9100 block of Moriset Court — just past the entrance into the Seven Bridges community. He has no history in the Palm Beach County court system, with the exception of a speeding ticket issued in 2018 where adjudication was withheld after he plead no contest.
