In a police report reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com, The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office says that Victor Maida refused to perform field sobriety tests after police found him behind the wheel of his Porsche SUV that “had struck a tree on Beuajollais Avenue. The vehicle drove over the curbed median. Vincent Maida had articulable signs of impairment.”

“Upon my arrival to the crash,” wrote a Deputy, “I observed a white Porsche SUV in the center median west of the Seven Bridges Community Hate House. The white Porsche had significant front end damage due to colliding with a palm tree. I then walked to the front driver side door of the vehicle where I came in contact with Vincent Maida, DOB 06/29/1940.”

According to the report, Maida was asked if he had any medical problems or had taken any medications and he said “no.” Maida was then asked how much he had to drink. “(Maida) said ‘One and a half glasses of Canadian Whiskey, Crown Royal. He stated that he was coming from a restaurant down in Boca.”

The Deputy documented that Mr. Maida had “glossy, watery eyes, and his speech was slow and slurred. I observed Maida was instead on his feet as he walked away from the vehicle.”

Maida, according to police, refused to take part in voluntary field sobriety tests, but did provide a urine sample which revealed a blood alcohol level of .026 and .025 — both below the legal limit of .08. Even with that result, Mr. Maida was charged with Driving Under the Influence. He was booked into the Palm beach County Jail and later released on his own recognizance.
