UPDATE at 11:40 a.m. — There are now 6,743 delays in the United States as airlines continue to recover from this morning’s mandatory ground stop.
UPDATE at 9:05 a.m. — The ground stop was lifted at 9 a.m., but more than 4,000 flights are listed as “delayed” nationwide. It may take hours for the situation to resolve.
BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — All flights in the United States are grounded until at least 9 a.m. due to a computer issue with the Federal Aviation Administration.
I have the latest on NewsRadio 610 WIOD.
The FAA initiated the stop late in the 5 a.m. hour. While the system — known as the Notice To Air Missions — is slowly returning online, the FAA is requiring all airlines to keep flights on the ground until at least the 9 a.m. hour.
All flights are affected — including PBI, MIA and FLL. Check with your airline before heading to the airport. Expect delays to continue well into the afternoon, even if the ground stop is lifted — as predicted — around 9 a.m.
