UPDATE at 3:34 p.m. ET: According to police, the suspect’s name is Stephen Smith, DOB: 7/19/1977.  The victim’s family has invoked Marsy’s Law.

WELLINGTON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Two people were found dead in a house in Wellington early Friday evening and now police are suggesting it was a murder-suicide.

Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a “double shooting/homicide” in the 2100 block of Balsan Way in Wellington just after 5 p.m. They found a female and male in the home, both dead from gunshot wounds.

Violent Crimes Division detectives arrived on the scene a short time later and believe that they, “have accounted for all parties involved in this double shooting/homicide and there is no threat to the public,” according to information provided to BocaNewsNow.com.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine an official cause of death for each person.
