BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — What should be the final push for massive highway construction on I-95 in Boca Raton will tonight (Tuesday) lead to a closure of I-95 as the “Diverging Diamond” nears its debut. I-95 will be closed northbound at Glades Road overnight tonight.
The Florida Department of Transportation explains the closure this way:
All I-95 northbound lanes at SR-808/Glades Road will be closed to traffic overnight, Tuesday, Jan. 24 through Thursday, Jan. 26 for overhead sign structure installation. The first lane will close at 9 p.m., the second lane will close at 10 p.m., and all lanes will be closed by 11 p.m., reopening by 5 a.m. each morning. Traffic will be detoured via the northbound exit ramp to SR-808/Glades Road, US-1/Federal Highway and SR-794/Yamato Road. FHP will be onsite to assist motorists. Monday night, Jan. 30 will be used as a contingency night if needed.
And a reminder that Glades Road will basically be impassable overnight throughout the weekend in the area of I-95:
“All access to and from SR-808/Glades Road at I-95 will be restricted for the implementation of the Diverging Diamond Interchange, 11 p.m., Friday, Jan. 27 through 6 a.m., Monday, Jan. 30. The Glades Road/I-95 interchange will reopen in the new Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) configuration at 6 a.m., Monday morning, Jan. 30.”
