UPDATE: 8:52 p.m. — PBSO now says both Daniel Polo and Elizabeth Polo were killed in the crash. They are both from West Boca Raton.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office says Alexander Spandau of Hearth Stone Avenue in Boynton Beach was driving eastbound on Glades Road in a 2018 Ram 1500 near the Turnpike entrance. “For unknown reasons, Spandau failed to negotiate the curve in the roadway and entered the southbound turn lane, then mounted the median and crossed into eastbound traffic. Spandau collided with a 2015 Nissan Rogue driven by Daniel Polo of Buttonwood Lake Drive in Boca Raton.” PBSO says the Pickup then spun counter-clockwise 90 degrees upon impact and the Nissan was pushed “violently backwards.” Spandau was transported to Delray Medical Center with “serious” injuries. Daniel Polo, 36, and Elizabeth Polo, 66, both died.

Witnesses say that at least one person was killed, although the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office has not yet confirmed the death.
PBSO’s vehicle homicide unit is on the scene of what witnesses say is a pickup truck versus a Nissan Rogue. Witnesses say a body was removed from the scene while another driver was rushed from the area in an ambulance.
There is no word as to how long traffic may be affected in the area. First reports apparently came in around 2:30 p.m.
