BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A fatal crash on the Florida Turnpike has closed the Turnpike as of 9:33 p.m. Saturday, south of Boca Raton.

According to FHP and sources connected to the emergency response, the crash was first dispatched around 8:20 p.m. in the northbound lanes in the area of mile marker 67. That is the Coconut Creek Parkway/Atlantic Boulevard section. All lanes northbound are closed. There appears to be very little traffic moving through the area southbound.

It was not immediately clear how many vehicles were involved in the crash or the type of vehicles involved. Expect the northbound side of the Turnpike to be closed for several hours as FHP investigates.

Florida Department of Transportation cameras indicate that traffic is being diverted from the Florida Turnpike well south of the scene.
