BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The opening of the Diverging Diamond did little to stop I-95 closures in and around Boca Raton. The Florida Department of Transporation says two major closures are set for this week.

The first, Tuesday night into Wednesday, will see I-95 completely shut northbound in the area of Yamato Road. Detours will be in effect. The closure starts at 9 p.m. so overhead signs can be installed as part of the widening and express lane expansion project. This is the official language from FDOT:

I-95 Northbound Full Closure Notice: I-95 northbound lanes at SR-794/Yamato Road will be closed to traffic overnight, 11 p.m. until 5 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 7 for overhead sign structure installation. The first lane will close at 9 p.m., the second lane will close at 10 p.m., and all lanes will be closed by 11 p.m., reopening by 5 a.m. Traffic will be detoured via the I-95 northbound exit ramp to SR-794/Yamato Road, Congress Avenue, Peninsula Corp Drive, and the I-95/Congress Avenue interchange. The I-95 northbound entrance ramps from Yamato Road and Spanish River Boulevard will also be closed to traffic during this time.

A second closure will affect southbound lanes later this week. We will update that situation — which starts on Thursday — as the date nears.

We also note that Glades Road work continues in the area of FAU and the Diverging Diamond, which is open but clearly not yet complete. Again, from FDOT:

Westbound Glades Road, between St. Andrews Blvd and University Drive/FAU Blvd, will have one lane closed daily, 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m., Monday through Friday and from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Eastbound Glades Road, between St. Andrews Boulevard and University Drive/FAU Blvd, will have one lane closed daily, 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m., Monday through Friday and from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday.
