BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Boca Raton Police, Crime Scene Investigators, and Boca Raton Fire Rescue professionals are all on the scene of what appears to be a suicide by train situation in the City of Boca Raton.

According to sources with knowledge of the incident, a man was struck and killed by a northbound Brightline train in the area of Hidden Valley and Dixie Highway in Boca Raton. The incident occurred around 10 a.m. Investigators, from what we understand, believe this to be a suicide.

There is no information regarding the victim’s identity or age. It was unclear if the Brightline engineer had an opportunity to stop or whether the person darted in front of the oncoming train.

Brightline has been running tests in Palm Beach County for its trains to reach 110 m.p.h. It was not immediately clear how fast the train was traveling at the time of the incident. The Associated Press says Brightline is the deadliest mass transit system in the United States.

This is a developing story. Check back for details.
