DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The person killed in Friday’s fiery crash in the senior living community of Kings Point in Delray Beach has been identified as Joyce Zanleone, 81, of Belle Glade.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Zanleone was a passenger in a 2020 Hyundai driven by Joseph Zanleone, 76, of Kings Point. Joseph lost control of his vehicle and slammed into a building. His car caught on fire. This is the official narrative from traffic homicide investigators:

“On Friday, February 17, 2023, at approximately 4:41 p.m., the driver of V-1, Joseph Zanleone, was driving westbound on Monaco Boulevard from Jog Road. For unknown reason(s), the driver of V-1 failed to maintain control of his vehicle as he accelerated rapidly. D-1 ran a stop sign, drove through a hedge line and roadway sign, a cement planter, and finally into a residential building at 529 Brittany L. The passenger in V-1, Joyce Zanleone, died from injuries sustained during this crash. She was transported to the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner’s Office. The driver of V-1 was transported to Delay Medical Center for treatment of his serious injuries.”

The crash led to a massive response by both Palm Beach County Fire Rescue and PBSO. The fire was extinguished within minutes. While extinguishing the fire, rescuers realized Joyce was in the vehicle — and dead.
