DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A man believed to be homeless was struck and killed early Sunday by a tri-rail train in Delray Beach.

The Delray Beach police department tells BocaNewsNow.com that crash occurred in the area of Congress Avenue and the Tri-Rail tracks. The closest street address is 3300 South Congress Avenue. That is just south of Linton.

“The southbound train struck the adult male who is believed to be homeless,” said police. “The crash happened in an area south of Linton Boulevard where street traffic is not affected.”

It was not immediately known how many people were on the train at the time of the incident. Tri-Rail reports that bus service is now in operation between Boca Raton and Delray Beach. It is unclear how long bus service will be replacing train service along the affected cooridor.
