BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The “Diverging Diamond Interchange” connecting traffic at Glades Road in Boca Raton to I-95 is almost complete. While the controversial new traffic pattern went “live” a few weeks ago, construction continues — leading to constant complaints being sent to the BocaNewsNow.com traffic center. But now, good news! Construction will be completed in March. It was supposed to continue into May.

Here is the official announcement from FDOT: “The DDI will be placed into final configuration on Monday morning, March 27 by 5 a.m., which is in advance of the originally scheduled date of May 1.

To achieve this, Glades Road at I-95 will undergo a full weekend shutdown from 11 p.m., Friday, March 24 through 5 a.m., Monday morning, March 27. When the road reopens by 5 a.m. on Monday morning, March 27, all movements and lanes will be available and the DDI will be in final configuration. For detour information and maps, please visit the project web page: bit.ly/GladesRoadDDI

Currently, the DDI is open to traffic in a temporary configuration with 3 travel lanes available in each direction. FDOT Traffic Operations Staff & the City of Boca Raton’s Traffic Engineering Department are observing and modifying the signals at and around the interchange to optimize efficiency for all movements. Pedestrian traffic is being detoured to the north sidewalk, while construction on the south side is finalized. Please note that additional temporary lane closures can be performed daily to allow construction crews to expedite remaining concrete flat work and drainage installations. Final configuration of 4 westbound lanes and 4 eastbound lanes, including a dedicated and dual/through turn lane to the I-95 NB entrance ramp, will be implemented by March 27, 2023. Thank you again for your patience!”
