On Friday March 17, 2023, at approximately 07:56 PM, the Lake Worth Regional Communications Center was notified of a shooting, with injuries, that occurred on SR-91 (Florida’s Turnpike) near Lake Worth Road in Palm Beach County. At approximately 08:13 PM, Troopers arrived on-scene where the victim stopped on SR-91 near the overpass of Yamato Road (approximately mile marker 76). At approximately 8:23 PM, FHP’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence was notified of the attempted homicide, arriving on-scene at approximately 09:08 PM. The victim was transported to Delray Medical Center. Three (3) occupants that were in the victim’s vehicle remained on-scene and provided sworn recorded interviews in Spanish.

All three passengers advised that they were passing the West Palm Beach Service Plaza, when the suspect vehicle tried to merge into their travel lane.  The suspect pulled along the passenger side and subsequently fired several rounds into their vehicle.  The driver was struck in the abdomen.  The driver went into surgery and they determined that no organs were punctured by the projectile.  The driver was in stable condition.

A description of the subject vehicle was obtained. This investigation continues.
