BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — As Florida Atlantic University heads to the Final Four — something that seemed to be impossible just weeks ago — we ask you to weigh in: what is your Florida Atlantic University story?
While it still seems to many to be new, Florida Atlantic University actually opened in 1961 as just the fifth public university in the State of Florida. Enrollment that first year was low. Now, there are more than 30,000 students enrolled at any given time, engaged in more than 170 degree programs — according to official school data. More than 184,000 call FAU their Alma Mater. The school boasts a $6.3 Billion annual economic impact.
And while basketball is certainly getting attention now, the school boasts 19 NCAA Division 1 teams.
FAU plays San Diego State on April 1st, while the University of Miami takes on UConn.
