DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A $16 case of stolen Heineken led to a $100,000 bond for a Delray Beach man accused of stealing the beer from a local Marathon gas station. Christopher Moore, 29, remains in the Palm Beach County Jail Tuesday morning.
According to court records, Moore has a history of stealing things and, occasionally, not showing up to court to answer questions about his alleged crimes. That history is apparently what led to a huge bond for a seemingly minor theft. BocaNewsNow.com obtained the police report for the Heineken theft arrest, filed by the Delray Beach Police Department.
“On 03/31/2023 at approximately 2355 hours, I was on routine patrol in the 1st blk Nw 8th Ave, when I observed two white males leaving 725 W Atlantic Ave. The subjects were going eastbound toward NW 7th Ave. One subject I observed I was able to positively identify as Christopher M. Moore from previous police encounters.
The other unknown subject, was wearing a black t-shirt, black basketball shorts, and a black hat, running at a fast pace with a case of beer in his hands. I checked the immediate area and was able to locate a 12 pk case of Heineken in an empty field in the first block of NW 7th Ave. Prior to locating the beer, I observed Moore leaving the field where I made contact with him and he stated he did not know who the other subject was or where he went. I recovered the beer and returned it to 125 W Atlantic Ave.
I then made contact with a (Marathon gas station) cashier who stated he was just going to call us and report the incident. The cashier stated that the subject in red (Moore) was the one that walked out of the store with the unpaid merchandise. The cashier stated that Moore made no attempt to render payment for the beer and passed all points of sale. The cashier showed me the CCTV footage of the incident (which was captured on my body-worn camera) Moore was clearly seen reaching into the cooler, grabbing the beer and immediately leaving the store eastbound at 2344 hours.
Moore made no attempt to render payment for the beer. I made contact with Moore again at 910 W Atlantic Ave where he was immediately placed into handcuffs.”
Moore was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail early Saturday morning and remains held on $100,00 bond.
