DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A man carrying a gun at a Delray Beach dog park is facing a criminal charge after allegedly threatening another park-goer with a gun.
The Delray Beach Police Department says Sean O’Brien of Lowson Boulevard in Delray Beach is facing an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge after the Tuesday incident at the dog park at 1455 Lake Ida Road.
According to a police report reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com, O’Brien approached another person at the park and said, “I remembered you. I have been looking for you.” An argument, according to police, then ended and O’Brien threatened to shoot the other person. Witnesses apparently confirmed the encounter and said that O’Brien reached inside his fanny pack but never retrieved the contents.
While a gun was not pointed at the victim, police investigating the incident took possession of the fanny pack being worn by O’Brien and in that fanny pack — according to police — was a “Century Arms Canik TP9 9MM handgun.”
Sean O’Brien was taken into custody and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail. He was later released on $10,000 bond. A court date is pending. It remained unclear Saturday morning what the alleged original dispute entailed that led O’Brien to threaten the victim Tuesday at the dog park.
