Is It Better To Die Than Obtain Services At Boca Raton Regional?

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Sometimes it’s more cost effective to die — at least if you’re a patient at Boca Raton Regional Hospital. That’s the apparent takeaway from a lawsuit just filed by Boca Regional against a patient who sought treatment last year.
Boca Regional claims that Grigory Mogilevsky, who is apparently in his 70s according to public records reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com, obtained services from the hospital on January 25th, 2022 at 10:45 a.m. That’s when the hospital claims that Moglievsky signed a document giving the hospital permission to pursue any charges that it deems appropriate against him.
According to the suit, the charges total $312,534.34. It’s unclear what services the hospital provided that could have led to such a bill — it does not appear the hospital provided a house or a high-end car as part of the medical care it rendered. There are no police reports suggesting that Mogilevsky was the victim of an accident or crime that required emergent care. There is no indication in the filing that insurance denied coverage.

“Defendant Mogilevsky entered a written contract whereby Defendant agreed to pay for medical care and treatment provided to Defendant by Plaintiff BRRH. A true and correct copy of the form of written contract is attached hereto,” writes attorneys for Boca Raton Regional Hospital. “Defendant Mogilevsky owes Plaintiff the sum of $312,534.34 that is due with interest since February 19, 2022 for medical care provided by Plaintiff to him. Upon written demand, Defendant has refused to pay for such services.”

There is no itemized bill attached to the lawsuit, or indication as to how Boca Raton Regional Hospital — managed by Baptist Health — arrived at the $312,000 amount. BRRH is represented by attorney Timothy Hartley of Hartley Law Offices on Southeast Seventh Street in Fort Lauderdale.
