UPDATE: 4:41 p.m: The Coral Springs Police Department says it has arrested an 18-year-old student, Catrina Petit, and charged her with multiple felonies for threatening to commit a school shooting. “Petit sent the threat out fraudulently using the another student’s name and computer access,” according to Coral Springs Police.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The Palm Beach County School District says the threat made online earlier Friday is fake. According to multiple sources, a threat was posted to social media in Broward County. That non-specific threat led to concern across South Florida.

Palm Beach County School District official transmitted a robocall to parents alerting to the threat, and most importantly, confirming that the threat is non-specific and unfounded.

The threat follows “SWATTING” calls to 911 systems across South Florida earlier this week that led to massive police responses to several colleges and universities. No threat was ultimately found.
