BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Maggiano’s Little Italy Restaurant in Boca Raton was cited by the Florida Department of Professional Regulation for misrepresenting fish. The fish on the menu was not the fish being served.
According to records reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com, Maggiano’s misrepresented “Red Snapper” on its menu. Customers ordering “Red Snapper” were actually given “Crimson Snapper” which is not the same. That led to an inspector filing an “administrative complaint.” Other issues for the restaurant are listed below. Per our policy, the following information is verbatim from he State of Florida report. We do not change the words used:
Intermediate – Identity of food or food product misrepresented. “Red snapper” indicated on menu- at walk in freezer observed box of “Crimson Snapper”- as per manager this is item cooked for order “red snapper”**Admin Complaint** **Admin Complaint**
Intermediate – Handwash sink used for purposes other than handwashing. Handwash sink by salad station with container of utensils inside – operator removed. **Corrected On-Site**
Intermediate – No proof of required state approved employee training provided for any employees.
High Priority – Stop Sale issued on time/temperature control for safety food due to temperature abuse. Time/temperature control for safety food cold held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit. At reach in cooler at end of cookline- butter 45- cold holding, cooked onions 45F- cold holding , roasted garlic 45F- cold holding- operator states food not prepared or portioned today- food double paned- food out of temperature overnight- see Stop sale.

The inspection first occurred on April 26th. A follow-up inspection on April 27th yielded the following report:

Maggiano’s Little Italy was not ordered to close. Another inspection is pending.
