BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Boynton Beach man is dead after the car in which he was riding was struck a truck towing an excavator. The crash happened Thursday afternoon in the 11800 block of Orange Boulevard in Loxahatchee.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office says James Hughes, 44, of the 9900 block of Holly Hill Drive in Boynton Beach was riding in a Ford F350 being driven by Nicole Abate, 40, of West Palm Beach. She was also killed.

According to police, Nicole Abate was driving a Ford Focus when she “lost control of the vehicle and swerved left, crossing over the painted median and into the westbound lane.”

The Ford Focus crossed in front of the Ford F350 and struck the front of the F350. The F350 struck the passenger side of the Ford Focus. Nicole Abate and James Hughes were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the F350 was transported to an area hospital for minor injuries.
