DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The investigation continues this morning into a Brightline Train that struck and killed pedestrian in Delray Beach late Monday night.
Delray Beach Police tell BocaNewsNow.com that the train hit the male around 10 p.m. in the area between the 1600 and 2300 block of North Old Dixie Highway.
It was not immediately clear how many people were on the Brightline Train at the time of the incident, or whether they had to be off-loaded onto buses or another train.
Brightline is considered the deadliest commuter rail service in the United States. Currently operating between Miami and West Palm Beach, Brightline is set to launch high-speed service between Miami and Orlando later this summer. The identity of the victim was not released. It was unclear whether the person intentionally — or accidentally — crossed in front of the train.
The incident comes just days after a woman, talking on her cell phone, walked around barriers and in front of a Brightline Train in Pompano Beach. She was killed.
