A crash has closed both directions of the Florida Turnpike north of Boynton Beach Blvd.

UPDATE: 8:08 a.m. — Palm Beach County Fire Rescue says all victims have been transported to area hospitals but the clean up may take an extended period of time. Drivers remain encouraged to take alternate routes.

UPDATE: 7:31 a.m. — Traffic is SLOWLY being permitted to resume, but expect delays to continue for quite some time Friday morning. Alternate routes are advised.

BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A major crash has closed the Florida Turnpike in the area of the Lantana Service Center, just north of Boynton Beach Blvd.

It was not immediately clear how many cars are involved, whether any fatalities have been recorded, or what led to the crash. The Turnpike is at a complete standstill.

If you are heading to the Turnpike, you are advised to use U.S. 441, Lyons Road, or even I-95 to drive around the crash which could keep the Turnpike closed for several hours. The incident was first reported in the early part of the 7 a.m. hour.
