BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A frantic search for a child feared to have drowned in a canal near U.S. 441 and West Boca Medical Center early Monday morning ended with good news: the child was found and apparently uninjured.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office rushed to the Arbor Oaks Apartment Complex near U.S. 441 and Central Park Blvd. for the report of the missing child just after midnight Monday morning. It was unclear when the child was first determined to be missing, or why the child’s family feared the child was in the canal that runs along U.S. 441 in the area.

Sources tell BocaNewsNow.com that the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office setup a command center at the apartment complex as the search unfolded. Rescue units from all over the area rushed to the scene to search for the child. Sources say divers were dispatched as well. But within ten minutes of the first dispatch, the child was located — apparently in good condition. It was unclear if the child was in the canal, near the canal, or somewhere else in the complex. It was also unclear why a parent didn’t know where the child was in the middle of the night.

BocaNewsNow.com is withholding age and other identifying information until official details are released by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office which we expect to have happen later on Monday.
