DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Boynton Beach woman is facing a DUI with serious bodily injury charge following a critical crash on July 3rd. The arrest report was just processed by the Palm Beach County Clerk of Courts. It reveals that Samantha Phillips of South Federal Highway in Delray Beach was allegedly twice the legal limit for blood alcohol content at the time of the crash at 1848 S. Federal in Boynton Beach.
The following is an excerpt from the arrest report obtained by BocaNewsNow.com.
“I responded to a single-vehicle crash involving serious bodily injuries, which occurred in the south-bound lanes of travel on SR 5 in front of 1848 S Federal Hwy, within the City of Boynton Beach, Palm Beach County FL.. On arrival, I observed a single vehicle 2009 gray Mercedes C300 (unregistered / VIN WDDGF54X69F234404) bearing FL. tag KEFB14 rendered disabled against a cement pole on the westside of the southbound lanes on S Federal Hwy (S. SR 5). The vehicle’s front bumper was crushed pushing the dash forward with both driver and passenger airbags being deployed.
I was informed that BBFD was on scene prior to Officer Rivera’s arrival but she observed a W/F later identified as Phillips, Samantha DOB 07/01/1993 in physical control of the vehicle, sitting in the driver seat. Two people witnessed the crash, stating they observed a W/F later identified as Samantha Phillips in the driver’s seat and seemed like she was out of it and appeared under the influence. BBFD deemed both the driver Phillips, Samantha Lynn (and front right passenger W/M Britt, Patrick Casey as trauma alerts transporting to Delray Medical Center. Reference I then responded to Delray Medical Center to relieve Officer Jennings who followed and was standing by at the hospital. It’s to be noted the FL license plate KEF-B14 is registered to a different vehicle assigned to Phillips.

Per DMC nursing and doctor staff Phillips sustained a laceration to her liver and a fractured pelvis, currently being treated in the Trauma ER room 1. While standing by with Phillips, a trauma nurse advised blood was drawn from both subjects for medical testing, revealing Phillips to have a ETOH of .163, and Britt having an ETOH of.257. Britt sustained multiple broken rips, clavicle fracture and an aorta tear injury currently being treated in Trauma ER room 2. Officer Bloom made contact with Britt’s family in North Carolina notifying of the incident. Phillips blood was withdrawn by (nurses) at the direction of the Trauma ER Doctor on 03/30/2023 at 2314 hours. Based on my training and experience it is of vital importance to obtain the blood vials that were taken for a more accurate alcohol content closer to the time of the crash. The BAC levels lower by .02 every hour that passes.”
Samantha Phillips was booked into the Palm Beach Couty around 9:17 a.m. on July 3rd, and released the following day on her own recognizance. A court date is pending.
