BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The chance of the system east of Florida intensifies and heads west is now growing, with the National Hurricane Center saying the likelihood of the “orange x” becoming a tropical cyclone is 40-percent over the next seven days. While the oval looks ominous, we remind readers that the oval indicates where a system may develop, not necessarily a direction of travel. This is the official “outlook” for this specific system:

A tropical wave is located several hundred miles to the southwest of
the Cabo Verde Islands. Conditions are expected to be favorable for
gradual development of this system in a few days, and a tropical

the system moves generally west-northwestward over the tropical
Atlantic. Formation chance through 48 hours…low…near 0 percent. Formation chance through 7 days…medium…40 percent.
We note that it’s too soon to know a track, and other systems this year have shown increased levels of intensification, only to dissipate days later. We will continue to update the forecast and potential track of this tropical wave.
