BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — An arrest has been made in a fatal North Broward County shooting after the Broward Sheriff’s Office was able to obtain — and release — an image of a suspect. BSO issued this statement to BocaNewsNow.com:

Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit detectives have arrested a man for a fatal shooting that occurred in Pompano Beach on June 30.

Based on leads and information developed during the investigation, BSO detectives obtained an arrest warrant for David Alfonso Sosa for first-degree murder with a firearm. On Monday, July 24, law enforcement in Mobile, Alabama, arrested Sosa based on the BSO warrant. Sosa is currently in custody in Mobile County.

At approximately 6:24 p.m. on Friday, June 30, Broward County Regional Communications received a call regarding a shooting at 251 South Dixie Highway West in Pompano Beach. BSO deputies responded along with Pompano Beach Fire Rescue. On scene, deputies located two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. One individual was pronounced deceased on scene. The other was transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening.

The investigation revealed that Sosa shot the victim over the repayment of a debt. Sosa is expected to be extradited to Broward County to face the murder charge.
