BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Camp Trucking, the problem-plagued camp trunk and bag delivery service has apparently shut down — just as overnight summer camps nationwide are preparing to wrap for the summer and send camper trunks back home.

BocaNewsNow.com learned of the apparent shutdown through multiple sources. The company, which was utilized by hundreds of families across South Florida who send kids to overnight camp both in-state and across the country, has faced multiple delivery problems over the past several years. Last year, customers experienced delays in pickups and deliveries. This year, it appears bags may never make it home — even though the company charged hundreds of dollars per family for the service. It was unclear if the money will be refunded.

A phone call to Camp Trucking led to a voicemail box that said the office was closed — even though it was within the working hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. A text message was not returned.

“My son is at Camp Laurel South in Maine,” wrote a BocaNewsNow.com reader. “We live in northern NJ. Camp Trucking sent us an email today that they are out of business. I paid them a little under $400 for a round trip. No mention of returning my $185. No way to get in touch.”

Ship Camps, a competing company that operates out of West Palm Beach, and utilizes FedEx Ground, has become increasingly popular for overnight camps in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, based on its pricing and reliability over the past two years. A spokesperson did not immediately return a call from BocaNewsNow.com seeking options that may be available to parents who have bags stuck at camps across the country.

If you used a credit card to charge delivery services with Camp Trucking, you may have the ability to contest the charge if Camp Trucking fails to offer services for which you have paid. Call your credit card company to learn more. While there is no current bankruptcy filing for Camp Trucking in the federal bankruptcy database, it does appear the company had financial issues in the past.
