BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Presidential win by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis would be bad for the country, according to the spokesperson for “Parenting With Pride Florida” who joined me on South Florida’s First News Friday morning on NewsRadio 610 WIOD.
Brandon Wolf is press secretary for the group created to share resources and information with parents frustrated by the anti-LGBTQ, ultra-conservative, anti-choice agenda that many believe Gov. DeSantis is promoting and will attempt to promote nationwide if elected president. Wolf told me the days of Florida being a welcoming state — to all — seem to be over.
“You know, this, what’s really heartbreaking for me,” said Wolf. “I chose Florida as my home in 2008. Because I was looking for a place to belong, a place to feel safe being my whole self. And it breaks my heart that we have politicians, again, like the governor who seemingly, you know, have no interest in making Florida a safe space for everyone and have no interest in making Florida welcoming and inclusive of all people. And the truth is that, you know, the damage being done by these policies is real.”
Parenting with Pride Florida, said Wolf, is seemingly the opposite of groups considered “extremist” like “Mom’s For Liberty” which claim to promote choice but fight for book bans and educational controls.
“And so parenting with pride is really a grassroots organization,” Wolf said, “that seeks to give people the right information, if they have questions about for instance, how laws are being implemented, how they might impact their kids in schools, whether that’s bathroom access books, curriculum, AP courses, or otherwise, it also connects them to resources and organizations were partnering with a bunch of national partners like the Trevor Project and glisten, and the Human Rights Campaign, as well as the PTA and others. And finally, it’s about empowering their voices.”
“I think the entire country should be concerned that when Ron DeSantis says he wants to make America Florida he means that he will ban books about your families to he means that he will censor curriculum for your kids to he will attack your small business if you decide to dissent out loud.”

No extreme views? You’re making a joke here, right? This guy wants to re-write history, especially Black history. Read up about Ocoee and their history with the local black population who wanted to vote many years ago. His views on gay folks and LGBT people is so misguided and downright crazy. I don’t think he would support those folks one bit. And a president is supposed to represent everybody, not make fun of or belittle people. Isn’t he the guy who said that slavery had some positive benefits? That’s just sheer nonsense and a very offensive actually. And his problems with Mickey Mouse are totally off the wall…totally ridiculous!
No, we need someone more moderate who will represent all Americans. His record in Florida is fine if you’re white and straigh, but for everyone else, not so much. He’s really in no way, shape or form, presidential! He’s just the wrong man to possibly lead our country!!!
