BocaNewsNow.com obtained the report filed by Boca Raton Police investigators:
“On 09/18/2023, I responded to a crash involving 4 vehicles where one collided with a building. The incident occurred at the intersection 7600 N Federal Hwy. Upon arrival, I observed a split scene, two vehicles came to final rest in the parking lot located on the east side of the intersection and two on the west side of the intersection. One of the involved vehicles, a black Cadillac that collided with a concrete pillar into a building.
The driver, Elizabeth Riccioli, was seen by several witnesses operating the black Cadillac at the time of the collision. Riccioli was being evaluated by Boca Raton Fire Rescue (BRFR) upon my arrival I (told Riccioli) that I would be asking her some questions regarding the crash and what occurred. Riccioli immediately stated that she doesn’t know what happened and all she remembers is someone hit her. I explained to Riccioli that there was video which detailed the crash, and she was at fault.
Riccioli then stated that she remembers hitting someone. As I was speaking with Riccioli, I could smell an odor of alcohol emanating from her person. asked her how much she had to drink and she stated 2 glasses of wine. At this point I asked her to perform voluntary field sobriety tasks to dispel my alarm that she is impaired and would be okay to operate a motor vehicle.”
Riccioli allegedly had issues completing the field sobriety tests, then refused to submit to a breath alcohol test. Both factors were cited in her arrest.
“Based on the totality of the circumstances and the independent witness testimony and the statements from her son, Joseph Riccioli, who was in the vehicle and stated his mom was drinking. I placed Elizabeth Riccioli under arrest at 1521 hours and placed her in the right rear seat and secured her with a seatbelt. Riccioli was transported to BRPD holding for further processing.”
