BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A major police action in the West Boca Raton community of Lotus led to at least one arrest, according to sources familiar with the situation. It was not immediately clear whether the high profile action — which involved multiple unmarked SUVs and agents wearing body armor — was the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office “warrant squad,” or an operation from the Drug Enforcement Agency. We have learned the DEA was present.
The warrant squad routine uses techniques seen on television “cop shows” to safely effectuate arrests around Palm Beach County. Those watching a PBSO warrant squad operation often believe it is a federal law enforcement agency. Neither PBSO nor the DEA immediately responded to requests for clarification. It is possible both agencies were involved in the operation.
Lotus is a recently-completed community of million dollar homes along Lyons Road, just north of Clint Moore. The community was built by G.L. Homes and — like the Bridges, Boca Bridges, and Seven Bridges, was heavily marketed to New Yorkers.
