BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A new system forming east of Florida could be something to watch, although any impact is at least a week away, and it’s entirely possible the system ends up being nothing at all.
We’re talking about the yellow oval in the far eastern Atlantic. It has a 30-percent chance of development over the next seven days. We remind you that an oval indicates where a system may form, but not necessarily a direction of travel.
Systems traditionally for closer to Florida in the second half of hurricane season, which we are now in. That switch hasn’t yet happened. Meantime, Philippe — which has been churning in the Atlantic for two weeks — is heading north. It could hit Maine on Saturday as a tropical storm.
Otherwise, the tropical remain generally quiet, although October is often a busy time. It’s too soon to assume the season is coming to an end. The Atlantic Hurricane Season continues through the end of November.
