BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A major I-95 closure is set for the corridor from Boca Raton to Delray Beach Sunday night. The closure will impact the stretch between Glades Road and Linton Boulevard, according to the Florida Department of Transportation which issued the following informational statement to BocaNewsNow.com.
I-95 from south of Glades Road to south of Linton Boulevard and SR 808/Glades Road from NW 22nd Way to West University Drive in the Cities of Boca Raton and Delray Beach (95 Express Phase 3B-2).
Description: 95 Express Lanes Phase 3B-2 will extend the existing Express Lanes north from just south of Glades Road to just south of Linton Boulevard in Palm Beach County. One lane will be added, and the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane will be converted to create two Express Lanes in each direction. The number of General Use lanes will remain the same. Access to the Express Lanes will be provided via two designated ingress and egress locations—between Glades Road and Congress Avenue. The scope of work includes reconfiguration of the SR 808/Glades Road Interchange to a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI). Additional project improvements include overhead sign structure installation, Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) and Express Lane markers, new signalization, lighting, signing and pavement markings, and ramp signalization at five interchanges from Glades Road to Linton Boulevard. Shoulder-mounted sound barrier walls will be constructed along I-95 northbound between Clint Moore Road and Linton Boulevard, ground-mounted sound walls will be installed on the south side of Yamato Road east of I-95 adjacent to the University Heights Community and along I-95 northbound south of Linton Boulevard adjacent to the Tierra Verde Community. The Clint Moore Road Bridge over I-95 will be fully reconstructed and the Glades Road bridge over the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA) railroad tracks and Military Trail and the I-95 bridge over the C-15 Canal (between Peninsula Drive and Linton Boulevard) will be widened. Cost/Completion: $148 million. Completion is expected in late 2023.
I-95 Traffic Impact: I-95 will have up to four lanes closed in each direction nightly, 9 p.m. until 5:30 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. The first lane will close at 9 p.m., the second lane will close at 9:30 p.m., and the third and fourth lane will close at 11 p.m.
Glades Road Impact: The SR-808/Glades Road and I-95 interchange is in a new Diverging Diamond configuration. Please use caution as you approach the interchange – the posted speed is 35 MPH. Keep the crossover intersections clear like you would on any other roadway.
I-95 Southbound Full Closure Notice: I-95 southbound lanes at Congress Avenue will be closed to traffic overnight Sunday, Oct. 8, Monday, Oct. 9, and Sunday, Oct. 15 for striping and loop installation operations. The first lane will close at 9 p.m., the second lane will close at 10 p.m., and all lanes will be closed by 11 p.m., reopening by 5 a.m. Traffic will be detoured via the I-95 southbound exit ramp to Congress Avenue, Congress Avenue and SR 794/Yamato Road. FHP will be on site to assist motorists. Tuesday, Oct. 10, Wednesday, Oct. 11, and Monday, Oct. 16 will be used as a contingency nights if needed.
I-95 Southbound Full Closure Notice: I-95 southbound lanes at Yamato Road will be closed to traffic overnight, 11 p.m. until 5 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 11 and Thursday, Oct. 12 for striping operations. The first lane will close at 9 p.m., the second lane will close at 10 p.m., and all lanes will be closed by 11 p.m., reopening by 5 a.m. Traffic will be detoured via the SR 9/I-95 southbound exit ramp to SR 794/Yamato Road, Jog Road and SR 808/Glades Road. I-95 Northbound Advanced Full Closure Notice: I-95 northbound lanes at Congress Avenue will be closed to traffic overnight, 11 p.m. until 5 a.m., Monday, Oct. 16 and Tuesday, Oct. 17 for loop installation operations. The first lane will close at 9 p.m., the second lane will close at 10 p.m., and all lanes will be closed by 11 p.m., reopening by 5 a.m. Traffic will be detoured via the I-95 northbound exit ramp to Peninsula Corp Drive/Congress Avenue, and Linton Boulevard. Wednesday night, Oct.18 will be used as a contingency night if needed.
I-95 Southbound Advanced Full Closure Notice: I-95 southbound lanes at Linton Boulevard will be closed to traffic overnight Wednesday, Oct. 18 for loop installation. The first lane will close at 9 p.m., the second lane will close at 10 p.m., and all lanes will be closed by 11 p.m., reopening by 5 a.m. Traffic will be detoured via the I-95 southbound exit ramp to Linton Boulevard, Congress Avenue and Peninsula Corp Drive. FHP will be on site to assist motorists. Thursday, Oct 19 will be used as a contingency night if needed.
Ramp Impact: The I-95 northbound entrance ramp from westbound Glades Road will be closed nightly as needed, 11 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Traffic will be detoured via westbound Glades Road, Jog Road, and Yamato Road. FHP will be on site to assist motorists.
The I-95 northbound entrance ramp from eastbound Glades Road will be closed nightly as needed, 11 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Traffic will be detoured via eastbound Glades Road, N Federal Highway, and Yamato Road. FHP will be on site to assist motorists.
The I-95 southbound entrance ramp from westbound Glades Road will be closed nightly as needed, 11 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Traffic will be detoured via westbound Glades Road, Powerline Road, and Palmetto Park Road. FHP will be on site to assist motorists.
