BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — An elderly Boca Raton woman was flown by helicopter to St. Mary’s Medical Center Sunday night after she was found with an exceptionally high level of Carbon Monoxide in her system.

The woman, found in her running car in the garage of a home in the 22000 block of Cameo Drive in Boca Raton, called 911 herself. It was not immediately believed that she was intending to harm herself, according to sources familiar with the emergency response.

First responders rushed to the scene around 9:15 p.m. and found the woman in her car. She was fading in and out of consciousness. Rescuers determined she needed the hyperbaric chamber available at St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach.

Trauma Hawk flew to West Boca Medical Center where the woman was loaded on board. She was flown to St. Mary’s where she continued to receive treatment early Monday morning. It was unclear if she experienced a medical situation that prevented her from leaving her vehicle. BocaNewsNow.com has learned that the Carbon Monoxide levels were exceptionally high in the garage where the vehicle was found.
