DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The shooting at BurgerFi Monday night in West Delray Beach left one person dead, according to sources providing information to BocaNewsNow.com.

The shooting involved a man and wife and occurred in the parking lot behind BurgerFi near the intersection of West Atlantic Avenue and the Florida Turnpike. The man shot his wife in the back and the arm, then turned the gun on himself. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman ran into BurgerFi for help.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene and blocked off much of the area. Witnesses report seeing a huge amount of police tape with several road closures in the area around 8 p.m. Investigators apparently knew immediately what happened — seeing the dead husband and learning from the victim the events that led to the shooting.

The woman was rushed to Delray Medical Center where she is expected to survive. No names have been released as of Wednesday due to Marsy’s Law, although BocaNewsNow.com has requested a review of the implementation of Marsy’s Law in this case as the husband — now dead — can not claim victim status as the perpetrator of the crime.
