BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Palestinian supporter attending school at Florida Atlantic University was arrested by FAU police during a demonstration on Wednesday. The student, Sana Abu Mohd, allegedly elbowed an Israeli supporter, then kicked a Florida Atlantic University police officer.

This is the official narrative of events provided by FAU Police in an affidavit obtained by BocaNewsNow.com.

“On October 11, 2023, at approximately 1340 hours, while on routine patrol there was a scheduled demonstration with the Palestine and Israel groups on campus. This is located within the jurisdictional limits of Florida Atlantic University (FAU), 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton, Florida 33431.

While these groups were walking by Brevard Court, I met with a female wearing green pants, and a black shirt who was later identified by her Florida Driver’s License as Sana Ramzi Abdul Jabbar Abu Mohd, 03/x/2004. I spoke with Officer Buchanan who was getting the information of the female individual who was later identified by her Florida Driver’s License as (victim), who was a non-affiliate of Florida Atlantic University. Matz stated that she was intentionally hit by Abu Mohd’s elbow during the walk. Matz was sworn in on Bodycam by Officer Buchanan to this statement and stated that she would like to pursue charges. I then spoke with Lieutenant Jacobson, who stated that during the march he observed Abu Mohd strike Matz with an elbow from the Israel group. He then approached Abu Mohd and separated her from the march in an attempt to handcuff her and she raised her left leg and kicked him. Lt. Jacobson then proceeded to open handily pushed her face down to the ground and placed temporary restraints on her.

Abu Mohd was then patted down which yielded negative results for weapons or contraband. She was then transported to the Florida Atlantic University Booking room by Boca Raton Police Department transport van who then released her back into our custody for processing.

Upon my review of (the camera at) Diversity Way and Brevard Court, shows this individual being taken out of the group by Lieutenant Richard Jacobson #531. Mohd then is seen raising her left leg and kicking Lieutenant Jacobson. Then Lieutenant Jacobson is shown extending his left arm with an open handed pushing her where she fell to the ground. A crowd is shown running towards this interaction. Mohd is seen being put into flex cuffs, then being picked up by two officers and to the exit of the gate. Lt. Jacobson was in full police uniform at the time of the incident.

That concludes the camera footage Abu Mohd was then placed in handcuffs double locked and checked for fitting and then was transported to the county jail located at 3228 Gun Club Rd. without further incident. My department issued body worn camera was activated.”

Sana Abu Mohd is facing charges of battery and battery on an officer. She was booked into jail at 6:27 p.m. Wednesday and is being held in the Palm Beach County Jail as of mid-day Thursday.
