DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The armed robbery of a United States Postal Worker in Boca Raton led to the arrest of three men in Delray Beach. The Delray Beach Police Department issued this statement to BocaNewsNow.com.
The Delray Beach Police Department, in conjunction with the Boca Raton Police Department, Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, and U.S. Postal Inspection Service, apprehended three people in connection with a brazen armed robbery that took place in May in the city of Boca Raton. The men are now facing charges of robbery with a firearm after a mail carrier was targeted and robbed at gunpoint, with his postal arrow key stolen.
The three men arrested have been identified as Ecclesiaste Cleristor, 19, Jonathen Pierre, 19, and Jimmy Jerome,19. They were taken into custody on October 11, at their residences in Delray Beach.
This case is part of a broader investigation that began in February, when the Delray Beach Police Department received information from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service about a group of individuals in Delray Beach believed to be responsible for a series of mail thefts in Palm Beach County. The primary focus of the criminals was to rob mail carriers of their postal arrow keys, granting them access to mailboxes in the region. Once in possession of the keys, the perpetrators used them to unlawfully access mailboxes and remove checks from the stolen mail. These checks were then either altered or used as templates to print counterfeit checks to deposit them into various bank accounts for a profit.
Last month, Delray Beach police executed a series of search warrants and arrested five men involved in this mail fraud scheme. During the search warrant, police recovered over 2000 checks, over 200 bank cards, a stolen postal arrow key, and five stolen firearms. The men in that case face charges of organized scheme to defraud, criminal use of personal identification information, and grand theft. The Delray Beach Police Department wishes to inform the public that the investigation into this mail fraud is ongoing, and additional arrests are anticipated soon.
