UPDATE @ 12:59 p.m. — Palm Beach County Fire Rescue provided BocaNewsNow.com with the following rundown of events: “At approximately 1100 hours this morning PBCFR Units were dispatched to the Boca Grove Development for a reported commercial structure fire. Heavy black smoke was seen by responding units. Initial arriving units found a maintenance shed with several golf carts and lawnmowers inside the shed on fire. The crews also encountered several propane tanks on the Bravo side of the building.
Fire attack was initiated by the first arriving units. Fire was under control within 30 minutes. There were no injuries reported, no transports, and nobody on-scene required any medical treatment. The scene was turned over to PBCFR Fire investigator and PBSO. All other units were released and returned to service. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.”
UPDATE @ 12:01 p.m. Saturday: A storage shed at 20940 Boca Grove Boulevard — on the Boca Grove Country Club property — burned Saturday morning, requiring a major response by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue. The first call was received shortly before 11 a.m. Firefighters continued to battle the blaze as of noon.
According to sources familiar with the ongoing firefighting efforts, at least fifteen golf carts were ignited in a storage shed. It was not immediately clear how the fire started. It is believed the shed is actually on the Boca Grove property, but firefighters initially responded to an area behind the Hilton which abuts the Boca Grove Country Club.
There were no reports of injuries, but damage is said to be significant. Expect traffic delays in the area of Glades Road and the Turnpike — near the Glades Road entrance to Boca Grove. This is a developing story. Check back later Saturday for updates.
