BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A woman who attempted to express support for the proposed G.L. Homes community east of 441 and north of Clint Moore Road late Tuesday afternoon ended up being grilled by two Palm Beach County Commissioners, including Palm Beach County Vice Mayor Maria Saachs. The meeting was still ongoing just before 6 p.m.

Jean Frankel. who identified herself as a member of the Stonebridge Country Club Board of Directors, first said that G.L. Homes did not offer anything for Stonebridge to support the controversial community that will abut Stonebridge. But moments later, Frankel admitted that G.L. will provide $4M in benefits — including paid golf memberships to people who buy homes in the G.L. Homes community.

As we’ve reported, G.L. Homes is seeking permission to build in the Agricultural Reserve in exchange for providing land in Loxahatchee to Palm Beach County, and building a water system on it. Some say the water system is needed, but it remains unclear why Palm Beach County can’t provide this service without a private builder being involved.

G.L. Homes is the builder behind The Bridges, Seven Bridges, Boca Bridges, Lotus, and Dakota. Critics say the communities were built without infrastructure being improved in the area, leading to crowded roads, overcrowded schools, and other problems. Supporters say G.L. should be permitted to build — and point to a plan to offer workforce housing in the new community and a new Chabad.
