BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Student athletes in Middle School and High School in the Palm Beach County School District will have new physical exam policies to comply with starting in a matter of weeks. The Palm Beach County School Board is set to enact a sweeping new policy during its meeting on November 15th.

“Before a student can begin practice or competition in interscholastic sports at the middle, middle/senior or senior high school level, the student must provide signed parental consent to participate in the activity. The student shall also provide undergo, unless exempt by statute, an annual physical evaluation and shall be certified certifying the student is as being physically fit for participation in interscholastic athletic practice, tryout, workout, conditioning or competition or other physical activity associated to the student’s candidacy for an interscholastic athletic team. All students must submit a parental consent form, physical evaluation and other forms required by the District prior to participation in any physical activity related to an interscholastic athletic program.”

“Interscholastic athletic practice shall be considered to include any and all forms of physical conditioning, both aerobic and anaerobic, in which the student is permitted to participate regardless of whether such conditioning occurs in the preseason, off-season, or during the period of permissible organized practice.”
