There are, of course, terms and conditions, but the program could be a great way to enter the real estate market in an exceptionally difficult location to buy a first home, and during a time when interest rates are making it exceptionally challenging for many.

Palm Beach County’s Department of Housing and Economic Development (HED) announces the availability of State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Purchase Assistance Program funds. 

Funding will provide up to $100,000 to assist income eligible applicants with acquiring their first home (including acquisition, acquisition/rehabilitation, new construction, down payment and closing costs) that will be used as their principal place of residence. 

The online application portal will open on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at 8:00 a.m. and close on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. (or until 100 applications have been submitted.  Once 100 applications have been received, the portal will close).  Applications must be submitted online, and will be processed on a first submitted, first qualified, first served basis, subject to funding availability.  Eligible applicants can apply by visiting the website at https://pbcgov.com/HED. NOTE: Additional program information and required documents needed are also located on the website. 

MANDATORY: Before submitting an application, ALL applicants are required to register to attend one of the virtual mandatory orientations listed below (NOTE: Only 100 seats per orientation is available):

• Thursday, November 30, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.
• Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at 7:30 a.m.
• Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 4:00 p.m.
• Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at 10:00 a.m.
